Also known as the New VCA Stadium, the venue replaced the old Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground and took recognition as the city’s main stadium. The home matches of Vidarbha and Central Zone teams for the domestic Ranji Trophy are played on the VCA ground. The infrastructure of the stadium gained appraisals from the ICC and several other cricket players including Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting. The ground hosted its first test match in the same year of its inauguration, which was in 2008. It was an India vs Australia match. The next year, the same opponents faced each other in the very first ODI hosted by the venue. As of the records of 2019, 6  Tests, 9 ODIs, and 12 T20Is have been played at the VCA stadium.
