The stadium is currently operated by Surry County Cricket Club and owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. The Oval was the first cricket ground in England to host a test match in 1880. It was an England vs Australia match. Later in 1973, the first ODI was played on the Oval’s ground between England and West Indies. Traditionally, the first test match of the English season is played at the venue. The 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Finals was also hosted on the Oval’s ground.
