The venue is a listed international Test cricket venue and is also the home ground for the Glamorgan County Cricket Club. The first international match hosted at the Cardiff ground was the 1999 Cricket World Cup match between Australia and New Zealand. The same year, the first ODI was also hosted at the stadium between the same opponent teams. From then, till 2012, the venue was used often for organizing One Day Internationals. In 2009, the first Test match was played at the Cardiff ground between England and Australia. It was also used as the venue for hosting the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
