Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium is an international cricket-playing venue located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Since the ground is situated just 10 kilometers away from the Mirpur city center, thus, people also call it Mirpur Stadium. It was established in 2006 and is currently owned by National Sports Council and operated by Bangladesh Cricket Board. The purpose of the construction of Sher-e-Bangla was to host football matches. Though, after the takeover of the venue by BCB in 2004, cricket matches started being hosted. The first Test match played at the venue was in 2007. It was a Bangladesh vs India match. Later in the year 2006, the first ODI was hosted between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
