Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium is located in the eastern suburb of Uppal, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Because of being situated in Hyderabad, the ground is also called Hyderabad Cricket Stadium. The ground is currently owned and operated by Hyderabad Cricket Association. The proposal for the construction of the ground was put forth due to the limited operating autonomy of HCA over the previous home ground, Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium. Also, the ground was considered high-scoring because of its small size and was less used for high-profile cricket matches. Thus, in 2003, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium was built and the venue witnessed its first international match in 2005. It was an ODI where India faced South Africa as the opponent. In 2010, the first Test was hosted at the stadium. As of now, 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 3 T20Is have been played at the Hyderabad Stadium.
