Built-in 1867, the stadium is currently owned and operated by North Sydney Council. The first cricket match played at the Sydney Oval's ground was in the same year of its construction, i.e., 1867. Thus, making the venue one of the oldest cricket grounds in Australia. In the following years, the venue underwent several reconstruction phases. Speaking of cricket matches, the ground majorly hosts domestic tournaments. In 1958, Sydney Oval witnessed its first international match which was a Test match between Australian and England Women's Teams.
