Hagley Oval is a cricket stadium located in Christchurch, New Zealand. The cricket ground was built in 1851 in the central city of Christchurch, New Zealand at Hagley Park. The first ever recorded match witnessed by the Hagley Oval was in the year 1867 between the Canterbury cricket team and the Otago cricket team. However, amid World War II, the use of the ground became minimal. Later, in 1979, Canterbury returned and a number of Shell Cup home matches were hosted on the Hagley ground. Though, it was in the year 2014, when the first test match was played in Hagley Oval between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The same year, the ground witnessed its first ODI as well.
