The ground was formerly called Old Trafford which later changed to its current name in the year 2013 because the venue getting sponsored by Emirates Airlines. Old Trafford was opened as a home ground for the Manchester Cricket Club in 1857. The ground witnessed its first test match way back early in 1884. Thus, it is England's second oldest test cricket venue after the Oval. A total of 5 Cricket World Cups have been hosted at the ground of Old Trafford and therefore, it holds the record for hosting the most World Cup Matches.
