The Proteas Women's Cricket Team also referred to as the South Africa Women's Cricket Team represents South Africa as its representative in the ICC Women's Championship. It was granted full membership of the International Cricket Council in the year 1909. And Cricket South Africa currently operates the team. One of the first international women's teams is the South African women's team. The first international match played by the team was a Test match in 1960 against England. 17 years later, the team played its first WODI against Ireland in 1997. This team's position in the ICC Women's Rankings has been higher than sixth in the past years.
