The Punjab Kings is a Punjab-based franchise cricket team that takes part in the matches held under the Indian Premier League. The team was formed in the inaugural year of IPL i.e., 2008. Previously, the team was called Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) which later changed to Punjab Kings in Feb 2021. The home ground of the team is PCA Stadium, Mohali, Punjab. However, since 2010, the team also plays their home matches at either Dharamsala or Indore.

The ownership of the team is divided among four stakeholders. PK’s 46% stakes are with Dabur group’s Mohit Burman. Both Wadia group’s Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta have 23% stakes in the team. While the minor stakes are with the Saptarshi Dey of the Dey & Dey Group. In the 2014 season, the team finished as runner-ups and made an appearance in the playoffs once in the 13 seasons.
