Formerly known as the Southern Stars, the Australian women’s national cricket team is a participant in the matches hosted in international women’s cricket. Meg Lanning serves as their captain, and Shelley Nitschke is their head coach. The team was granted the Test playing status in year 1934. According to the International Cricket Council's world rankings for the women's game, they are currently ranked first. In 1934, Australia faced off against England in their inaugural Test match. Australia has won more World Cups in the 50-over version of the game than all other teams combined, taking home the titles in 1978, 1982, 1988, 1997, 2005, and 2013.
